Despite
the increasing secularism of our day, most people know that there is more to
Christmas than Santa and shopping, trees and tinsel, carols and cards.
Most people still know that Christmas is, at its core, a celebration of the
Birth of Jesus Christ, the Babe of Bethlehem.
HHowever,
there is so much more to the Christmas Story than the fact that Mary and
Joseph became the parents of a little baby in a small village five miles
south of Jerusalem. In fact, a study of the Scriptures shows us that the
Birth of Christ is a gem of truth with many beautiful but often unnoticed
facets.
We
might think of the Birth of Christ as the “what” Headline to the Christmas
Story. But, as one begins to read under the Headline, the “why” of the
Birth of Christ is revealed. Why did the Father send the Son? Why
did Jesus come down from Heaven?
